My Bookish Story of The Day!

Today, my five-year-old little girl asked, "Momma, you wrote two whole books, right?"

She tucked her little arm under mine, pulling it to her chest. Her gaze met mine as she waited patiently for my response. Smiling down at her, I responded, "Yes, baby. Momma wrote two books, and now she's working on her third."

She sat for a minute, and I could tell there was more she wanted to say. It was my turn to wait, but after a few minutes, she still hadn't said a word.

Suddenly, she held her hand up above her head, palm open with her fingers spread out towards the sky. So I gave her a high-five. She giggled, her hand moving to her face, as if she was trying to trap the giggles from escaping.

"No, Momma! Nobody does that anymore. I'm showing you I'm five, and you wrote two," she lowered two fingers, recounting the fingers left. "So, three more and you caught up to me!"

She laughed again, her excitement growing with this statement. I had almost caught up to her age in published books, but here I was still hyper-focused on the fact that I had just high-fived my daughter, who was doing math, above her head.

The moral of the story is. I now have a new Goal. To catch up to her. Additionally, five-year-olds still do math on their fingers; don't assume it's a high-five. Nobody does that anymore. So, yeah. I'm officially old.

Anyways,

Have a good day!
